Personal Updates

Between late night binges playing Phasmophobia, I’ve been doing a lot of “future work” lately. Thinking about Novatorius, Siren, and what it all means. How does it all connect to my beliefs, and my life, and what’s the purpose of all of it.

I’ve always had a sense of why, but it’s never been that clear. Just strong emotions, and a general “feeling”. A lot of my time has been working through articulating that stuff lately.

    I Bought an E-Bike

I bought an e-bike! I honestly think this will cut back on most of my driving, and play a small role in helping me keep active. The fact that I’m using it to get ice cream right now is a whole separate issue 😅

Our Camper Has Been Severely Damaged

Our winter home has been damaged, and it’s unclear if we’re ever going to live in it again. As a result, we find ourselves making due, but we’re asking for help.

Living It Up With a Shed

We set up a shed on our seasonal lot in Vermont, and I’m so happy with the results. This post talks a bit about how we built the shed, and the platform it’s built on.

Own Your Platform

I believe in the Fediverse, and the ideals of owing your platform.

I treat my personal site as a central hub, so you’ll find everything I post on this site. It’s just my way of trying to make the web a little more decentralized, and own my content.

I am pretty passionate about this idea, and I think you could do the same, too. If you’re willing to spend a little more time sharing your content in one more location, you can do it, too.

  • This little update on my site makes me so happy. My following of people who follow my website directly as opposed to following on social continues to grow. I still strongly believe that federation is the future of a healthier, happier (see: not “dead”) web.

  • So I set up a script that runs once a day on my home server. It grabs all content that hasn’t been saved from my personal site, and saves a markdown version of it with images, and everything. Not just for backups, but also so I can start using some local LLM stuff with my blog and my personal notes. Kinda neat to see all of my content ever published automatically get put into Obsidian.

  • I think I just found my winter break project. I have a collection of plugins on my site that handles syndication. Would be really nice to bundle it up in a PHPNomad Package. Looks like Bluesky really easy to set up.
