I think the thing I’m most excited about in the short-term is I can FINALLY add my micro content to my personal site, which currently is built 100% by collecting information about me from various sources (GitHub, blogs, and soon Mastodon).

Again, servers using Mastodon are not walled gardens, separate from one-another. Communication can (and definitely does!) cross servers.
