• Using The WordPress App to Publish Social Posts

I’ve got a not-so-uniqie design challenge that I think a lot of people like me are thinking a bit about right now. To where am I moving now that I’ve become disillusioned with Twitter? I have talked a lot about my excitement for the metaverse, and am certain that, at least in some fashion, I’ll be working with that. But the reality is, I am done with publishing content on social media first I’m tired of having my identity on someone else’s website first. I want literally everything I publish to either come from my site, or end up getting…

  • I Did A WordPress Code Audit for a Heavily Customized WordPress VIP Website

With limited documentation and layers of custom features, I took on the challenge to conduct a comprehensive audit of a WordPress site, paving the way for a seamless redesign.

  • So Long, DesignFrame!

Looking back from 2026: I wrote this when DesignFrame closed. The years since have been spent building plugins and doing custom WooCommerce work. Most of my focus now is on Siren, an affiliate plugin for WooCommerce, with the occasional freelance project when something interesting comes through. The original post is below. Welp, I finally did it. 9 years of running my own little WordPress agency has finally come to a close. I have officially shut down the website, and have helped move my remaining clients onto their own platform. I’d be lying if I said that this goodbye is more…

Our Camping Rig Coming into 2023

A deep look at our current camper, and how it compares to our previous camper.

  • 2023, Looking Forward

    2023, Looking Forward

Earlier this year, Kate published our 2022 looking back post on our travel focused blog. We reflected on our travels and what the past year was like. Now that we’re coming in to the new year, I can’t help but find myself setting my sights on the big themes of this year for me and my family. In our travels, I always find that I want to stop, and slow down through the holidays. We spend a lot of time resting, and unapologetically working on projects, staying in the camper, and just in-general doing less. The past few years this…

  • Hosting a Minecraft Server for My Kid and His Friends

Back in 2013, I ran a Minecraft server with my (at the time, teenage) nephew, Alex Gray. It actually grew to a pretty good size, hosting a couple-hundred players. We had a few mods installed, and had a lot of fun making dungeon-crawling playing areas, marketplaces, and all kinds of fun things. We ended up stopping eventually, as neither of us were really experienced enough in maintaining any server at all, and it all kind-of hit critical mass. Fast-forward ten (omg, it’s ten) years, and he’s now a grown ass adult working as a programmer and I’ve since switched careers…

  • Looking For Help With ActivityPub (Resolved)

One thing about the REST-based Mastodon instance mentioned here, is that I’d like it to eventually be replaced with an ActivityPub implementation, but honestly I don’t know much about how to actually integrate with that (yet!). Instead of doing that, I’m going to build a REST based data source specifically for Mastodon, since it suits my personal immediate needs. But, I think it should be possible to basically “follow” an ActivityPub-based account and convert those actions into models. In theory, this would make it possible to import any ActivityPub-based account into whatever platform you’re using. My thinking is that your…

  • Pay it Forward

3.5 years ago, was broke as hell, living in my mother-in-law’s house with my wife and son, hating most of it. I was overworked, underpaid, and downright desperate to be out of the situation I found myself in. I lived in that house for 3 years, and most of that time I was still unable to make ends meet. But I knew I loved what I was doing. I also knew that it would give me the flexibility that I wanted. That flexibility was how I got in this mess, so it god damn better well be worth it! I…

I believe that the Fediverse is poised to transform WordPress and usher in a new golden era for the platform.

  • Your Site As a Central Hub

I believe we’re on the cusp of turning our personal websites into complete representations of our online presence. This post goes over how I think this can be accomplished.
