I have a friend who got injured at work, and lost his job. (PS: screw you @Walmart)

He’s been working on HTML/CSS/JS and I’m wondering where he should go to find work. Should he jump in something like Fiverr? The goal here is to make some $$$ and build his portfolio quickly.

Is there is still need for good developers at design agencies? Or can agencies get by with designers building with blocks?

A member of WP Dev Acaedmy’s Discord asked this during a meetup last Thursday.

    Here’s my thoughts on that
🧵👇 I think for any simple website, and even some complex sites, you can have agencies and designers that don’t build using blocks with great success. You won’t really need a developer until you start needing to build truly custom blocks, or integrate with some third party system.

Today is the first day we’ve been on the grid for 4 months.

The first thing I do? TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONER In for months *. Sigh.

My favorite thing about traveling with a camper in-tow – you literally bring your kitchen and bathroom wherever you go. Gas station stop for bathroom breaks + lunch all happens in the privacy of your home, consuming food you normally eat.

So, since we’re on the road again, we aren’t composting like we were while in Taos. Every time we throw away an eggshell, both Kate and I are like “BUT THE DIRT!” Feels so wasteful to not use that perfectly good compost.

PSA: cell signal boosters, like @weBoost absolutely work. They don’t always solve the problem, but in most campgrounds you’ll have 1-2 bars and as soon as the booster kicks on it’s full-signal.

Parked at our first stay since our stint in Taos. I really, REALLY missed travel.

Just because you’re new to programming does not mean you can’t offer value. In fact, your new perspective, and inquisitive nature is EXACTLY the thing that an experienced developer can’t offer. Ask questions. They’re never dumb. Oftentimes they’ll help in ways you can’t imagine.
