SessionStorage can be used in much the same way as WordPress’ object cache, only it’s directly in the visitor’s browser instead of on the server.
It’s a key element in what makes nearly headless so, so fast.

I wrote a pretty detailed article on how to build a nearly headless WordPress website on @css
This goes into detail on how the Nicholas router works, and how to build the markup for your theme.
PS: this is full site editing compatible!

Looking to break into #WordPressDevelopment or just #webdev in general? Here’s the learning path I recommend, with resources to get you going. 🧵👇 First, learn HTML. This is the most-fundamental part of the web. It is mostly memorization. The goal here is to know enough to know what to Google. Take the course 1-2 times. Don’t stress if you don’t know every single tag, they’ll come in time.

I got some some serious no mans sky vibes from the moonrise yesterday.

So, I knew the @css post was coming up over the weekend, and went ahead and added the site to my feed: alexstandiford.com/blog
Took a peek this morning to see if it automatically added the post, and voila! There it is.
Really enjoying this little aggregator of mine.

I love that the new MacBook pros both have a physical escape key, and they’re double the width of most other escape keys. Talk about an over-correction 😂

I’m less concerned about the silliness of the whole “decode HTML” thing, and more concerned that someone was slapped for doing the right thing. Security is hard enough as it is, we don’t need people to be afraid to report issues, especially ones that are so blatant.

I’ve traveled all over about 2/3rds of this country, sampling beer and wine as I go, and I seriously can’t find porters that are better than what I could find in the Midwest. Most don’t even come close. That’s kind of the magic of travel though, isn’t it? Not only do you get to find what’s extraordinary, but you also get to discover what’s extraordinary about where you are from.

So yesterday, after my talk at GoDaddy we had a small, private gathering in the WP Dev Academy Discord, where @courtneyengle shared some really cool things about the future of the block editor. Looking forward to what the block editor has to offer!

TODAY IS THE DAY. If you’re exclusively making sites with ACF and the classic editor, you’ll want to watch this.
We’ll talk about how building #WordPress themes with the block editor differs from the classic editor.
https://t.co/CnmRBP5dAR After this talk is done, I will be doing a private Q&A session on WP Dev Academy’s Discord server for all members. If that interests you, come join the Discord server here:
Event starts at 4PM EST, Discord Q&A starts at approximately 5PM.
