WHEW what a process! I managed to get all of my tweets that I exported and deleted from Twitter two years ago, all imported into this site, including all of the photos and videos. I think I can finally say that I have centralized all of my content through alexstandiford.com now. Huge thanks to Shawn Hooper for building this importer, as it gave me a big leg up in the process. From here, it’s just a matter of wrangling all of the tags, and generally organizing the content a little better, but the fact that it’s in WordPress is a huge first step.
I’ll share a blog post that goes into the stack, and details of the process soon.

I made several small improvements to my site today. Chief of which is finally getting the mysterious clock in the top-right corner functional on mobile. Also, dancing mermaids. 🧜♀️
I still have a vision of putting a music player on it, and discovered I can totally do this with Last FM. That’s coming. We must have the spirit of 2000s era MySpace, or it’s not authentic.

There’s something about Dark Cabaret that I’ve really been enjoying lately. It uses interesting instrumentation, is always at least mildly theatrical, and in the case of American Murder Song, the 1816 Americana theme is really doin’ it for me.

Upgraded my headphones this weekend. I got a set of Sennheiser HD650s. The DAC is coming tomorrow, and I can hardly wait to try it out!

Let’s talk about how Siren will allow you to incentivize people who aren’t affiliates. One example – you could pay content writers a bonus based on how much traffic they drive to your site. This video explores that concept a little bit.

I think it sucks that affiliate programs almost always only pay out a commission to the last person who referred that person. I think this is a limitation of most modern affiliate management plugins, and it stifles any collaborative opportunities between your affiliates.
What if you could share the engagement among everyone who ever referred that person? What if you could pay the person who referred the individual the most? How about this, what if you could pay someone based on the percentage of times they referred that person?
Affiliate programs as you know them today are so limiting. Siren’s gonna fix that.

Is this still coffee?
During my summer in Vermont, I realized that some coffee shops in the area exclusively offered maple syrup as a sweetener instead of caramel., including my local one. I came to like maple in my coffee, but it’s fun to get to drizzle a little caramel on top as well.

I made some progress on the Siren’s Add Program screen recently. This is one of the key differentiators of Siren – of course you can do affiliate programs, but it’s just one of many types of programs that you can create. Programs are tracked based on any number of different events, and the way they’re paid out can be based on different incentive structures. You can have as many programs as you need.
This also highlights a key touchpoint with integrations like LifterLMS! 🧜♀️🚀
