    Thinking a lot about this phrase from Stephen King’s “On Writing” a lot today. He said it specifically about writing, but I have found that it applies to idea generation in-general.

    There is no Idea Dump, no Story Central, no Island of the Buried Bestsellers; good story ideas seem to come quite literally from nowhere, sailing at you right out of the empty sky: two previously unrelated ideas come together and make something new under the sun.

    It’s that time of year where I start getting back into the habit of waking up at 5AM to work on side projects before I start my day in-earnest. It’s always been the most-productive time of day for me, and I think I can attribute a lot of my career growth to this time-block. I know it doesn’t work for everyone, and I don’t do it year ’round these days, but I’m glad to be back.

    Well it took all freaking summer, but we finally got this corner set up how we want. Just in time to start thinking about leaving ????. I guess we’ll get a few weeks out of it…

    My favorite feature of the new iOS is that you can set the wallpaper to change every time your screen turns on. I set it to “Nature” and every time my phone comes on I get to see one of the many amazing vistas I’ve taken a photo of over the years in our travels. It’s so nice to just get a constant trickle of personal photos like that.

    Also, I love that the clock clips behind the vista sometimes.

    The splash screen background while migrating to the new Outlook looks straight out of Windows XP. I’m disappointed to find that I didn’t get the music, too.

    I’ve started to use Cloudinary for media hosting solution on this site. It seems really good so-far, except for the fact that my media URLs aren’t working quite right when I upload from mobile. Hoping to get that resolved because other than that, this seems like the perfect solution to my problem.

    I believe that WordPress isn’t software. It’s not community. It’s not a single person, no matter how significant that person thinks they are. I believe that WordPress is the manifestation of a belief that the web is at its best when it’s open. If I genuinely believed that forking WordPress would be good for WordPress, and the web, I’d contribute to it over the existing platform in a heartbeat.
