If you’re reading this text, you’re probably seeing this project in action right now. I believe in owning my content first, and vowed to never publish elsewhere first again, no matter how small the content was. The goal of this site has been to make a holistic view of my presence online, and centralize everything I do, from a tweet-sized post to full-blown essays, from business promotions to what song I’ve been enjoying lately. My site has become, and will always be, my true home on the web.

This feed talks about the challenges I’ve had, the things I’ve needed to do, and the paradigms of running a site such as this.

So I have some questions about the state of the fediverse on WordPress.

Is it possible to migrate my Mastodon’s followers/following to my WordPress site (assuming I’m using it as an ActivityPub source)

Is it possible to actually follow people and get some kind of feed, interacting with that account with other users?

I think the answer is still solidly “no” to both of those, but it would be good to get some context on how people are dealing with this today.

I know I shared this yesterday but it makes me so happy that videos can embed directly from shared links on my site now!

Been messing with the discoverability of my blog lately, and I’ve kinda come full-circle, tag cloud, categories, and search on the sidebar. If it ‘aint broke, I guess.

Feature Request: Enable Filtering by Post Format

Nick, the creator of the Block Visibility plugin asked me to submit a feature request with some information about post formats.

How I Made My WordPress Archive Style Different Post Formats

This is a big win for me! I was able to set up my site so that posts in an archive can be displayed based on the post format – WITHOUT building a custom block, just a small PHP snippet.

I did some CSS hacking to make my archive and single tweets at least look okay. It’s definitely not what I want it to be, but it’ll do for now as a quick fix to make it at least presentable. The alternative is a custom block. I think others need this as well – maybe there’s a collaboration opportunity to build something that solves our immediate problem? Maybe Courtney, or Tom?

So this is kinda neat. I added a tiny little widget to my WordPress dashboard that allows me to speed up the process of publishing microposts (tweets) on my site.

Looking For A Good Content Organizer For WordPress (Solved!)

I recently imported a decades worth of tweets on my site, and the hashtags were automatically added as regular tags. Now I want to go through and wrangle them. I know I can do a lot of this in core WordPress, but I’m hoping I can find some utilities that will make this easier.

    A Litany of Potential Improvements.

After importing over a decade of tweets into my site, I had several improvements to offer to the import utility I used. I compiled my changes to the code, and submitted it as a pull request, detailing what I needed, and why.
