Most of my web development work is done through WordPress. I’ve built hundreds of little WordPress plugins, and dozens of scratch-made sites. At this point, I’ve modified nearly every corner of WordPress at some point since I started using it in 2009.

You know it’s bad when I’m turning to my personal Facebook feed because it’s literally the only place that isn’t drowning in WordPress.

Funny how I escaped from that drivel to WordPress, and now it feels like a sort of online sanctuary right now. Life is funny.

Sandy Shares Her Success With Community Building At Bluehost

I had a great chat with Sandy Edwards at Bluehost about how to run a tailored affiliate program for a specific audience. In Sandy’s case, this program is built specifically for agency owners.

Who’s gonna step in and organize the future of WordPress dot org? How can we as a community actually…initiate something like that? I fear a lack of unity in a time where I think we really need it most.

Just a friendly reminder, y’all. Laraberg does exist.

Please WordPress people – keep custom logic that is not theme-specific out of your themes. It really matters as that project grows.

Even if you dump it in a single file plugin, that’s way better. Pretend its’ functions.php, I don’t care – just keep it out of the theme 🙏🙏🙏

I’m on a mission to get social media off of my phone, but I still want to be able to publish content. I don’t want to consume on my phone though.

I think if I can get a Twitter cross poster working reliably, my site plus the WordPress app can get me there.

Finding myself increasingly interested in updating my site so that it maps post formats to post types. So if you set a post format, it saves it as a mapped post type.

I think that would give me all of the benefits of multiple post types, but still make it possible to use post types in the mobile app. This would make it a lot easier to filter post types since you don’t have to use a tax query.

Here’s a chart of my search analytics for my personal site over the last year. Can you tell when I switched back to non headless WordPress?

I know headless can be SEO optimized, but in my experience, WordPress makes it effortless, comparatively speaking.

So crazy idea – what if #WordPress split up into flavors, kinda like how Linux has? Is there any reason why something like that is actually a good idea vs backcompat plugins like Classic Editor?

Just pondering out loud. Don’t read into this as something more than musings.
