I’m going camping this weekend. This week has been amazing in so many ways, but I need to take a nice long relaxing break.

I love this little camper so much. It’s not the most comfortable setup long term, but it’s small, easy to haul, and ready for adventure. a real “camper’s camper”, if you will.
Seems silly to have a camper that’s basically dedicated to camping when you literally live in campers full time, but it’s an optimization which I do not regret.

If it were just Kate and me full-timing like we are now, I think we’d have one of these.

They’re small, but still have all the benefits that a fifth wheel provide. A more-stable haul, a shorter haul length, more headroom. With some panels on the roof, I think you could take this thing darn near anywhere.

Ahh. A warm evening. Hustle and bustle of people. The hiss of beer cans opening, the smell of campfire, burgers, and hotdogs. Kids screaming in delight. A gentle breeze.
Camping season is in full-swing ’round here.

Starlink is impressive. I’m about 250 feet from my camper, with the wifi inside the camper, and I am still getting a fairly strong wifi signal.
My last router didn’t even emit the signal outside of the camper. Did not expect this at all.

It’s windy as hell here. It’s also blowing broadside, which is basically worst-case scenario for a camper. I see other camper’s rockin’ like crazy, but I have all of my stabilizer jacks under my slide, and my tripod all installed. This thing is SOLID. Wish I did this a lot sooner.

Apparently I’m not the only full-timer taking this route to Texas this year. A few other people who literally parked at the same place I was at this morning pulled in shorty after us here, as well 😂. We’re like geese, but slightly nicer.

As I was driving today, our destination sounded like a place that was vaguely familiar, but I couldn’t place it.
Turns out, it is the hometown of a former colleague and friend of mine from my days at Sandhills, so we got to hang out today. My dead battery meant that I got here 4 hours earlier. That meant I had time to hang out with them today. Serendipity wins!

What a wild rollercoaster that trip was! The map took us to the wrong location, we couldn’t get a hold of the winery we intended to visit, and on a whim said “screw it” and cheesed it to a KOA just up the road from the winery. I have full hook-ups, am down $54 dollars, and have no regrets.
