Lazy start to this Saturday. Kate and I are casually looking at some 24′ (much smaller than what we are in now) rigs and thinking about what we’re going to do should we be unable to buy land in Vermont. Perhaps a smaller rig and a couple years out west?

My wife spent like 3 hours on the beach with Bennett today, looking for seashells. As I approached her, she came running up to me looking like what you see in the photo ????. She was so dang excited to find a fully intact conch shell in the water, and got soaked going in after it.

A local ice cream shop in Roanoke sold me an ice cream cone with Cheez Its sprinkled on-top. It was too weird to not try. Salty + sweet almost always works, and this is no exception.

Woke up this morning to a lot of wind outside. Turns out, a tiny sand bar off the coast of North Carolina is quite windy this time of year. Yet another moment where this area reminds me of our visit to Elephant Butte, New Mexico, even though it is way on the other end of the country.

I think my favorite thing about OBX is that it’s all one road lol. Directions are super easy, and I’m directionally challenged ????

We have made it to the outer banks, where for the next two weeks we will call home. The campsite takes up about 2/3rds of the total width of the island where we’re parked(!)
There’s so, so much history in this region of the US, and I’m so excited to dig in!

This is one of my favorite RV stories, where we had an unexpected visitor that scared the daylights out of me.

A Much-Needed Respite In Virginia
One of the biggest challenges that comes from our current phase of travel is that we rarely get an opportunity to get away from our kids. They’re always with us, simply because there’s nobody nearby to watch them and they’re too young to take care of themselves right now. We don’t send them to school, because we homeschool. We go months on end without seeing any family, and as a result get a lot less time away from our kids than I think we need. This weekend, we’re parked pretty close to a place where family could come camp with…
